Preventative Care: Keeping Your Pet Healthy
Regular wellness exams keep your pet healthy! Bellson Animal Hospital recommends that all pets undergo a complete wellness examination at least once a year, though more frequent exams are encouraged, especially for senior pets. A thorough wellness exam detects diseases and health problems before they become more challenging to treat.
During an exam, we listen to your pet's heart and lungs, evaluate his or her vision, check for abnormal lumps, look at your pet's teeth and check your pet's joints for swelling or stiffness. We also discuss with you any recommended procedures, such as dental cleanings or diagnostic testing that may be necessary for keeping your pet healthy. Examinations give us a chance to ask questions about your pet's diet, lifestyle and behavior at home and also are an excellent time for you to ask us any questions you may have about your pet's health. Vaccinations are an important part of your pet's preventive health care plan. Many diseases once common to pets can now be prevented through the use of vaccinations. Bellson Animal Hospital provides many common pet vaccinations including bordetella, canine distemper, feline leukemia, hepatitis, influenza, leptospirosis, parvo virus, and rabies. We administer vaccinations based on your pet's lifestyle and other risk factors. |
